A good plot is not enough to save a book where I only like one character. I hope it gets better in the next two books, but I’m not holding my breath.

Unlike the bubbly youthfulness of her other works, Persuasion follows the life of Anne Elliot, a spinster at 27, who has lost the bloom of youth and has no expectations for marriage.
