It has been years since I read a Sherrilyn Kenyon novel, and Deadmen Walking reminded me of why I enjoyed them so much. The good news is that you don’t need to have read her other books to enjoy this book. However, characters are mentioned that you will have met if you have read the Dark Hunter novels.

Review: Erin McDermott – Hades’ Deception

This book is not my usual reading material, but the author asked me to review it, so I gave it a go. This book is a solid YA modern fantasy novel focusing on Greek mythology. It does include some of my least favorite YA tropes, a few typos, and inaccurate information, but for a YA novel, it’s an engaging read.

Review: Orlando A. Sanchez – Tombyards & Butterflies

Honestly, I am torn about this book. I wavered between three and four stars, but it ultimately came down closer to a three. It feels like an intriguing basis for an urban fantasy series, but at the same time, the world is not fleshed out. It’s action-packed, but light on details and some of the known details don’t make much sense. More time on the backstory and less on the action would have made all the difference to me.
