“It’s just written. I don’t know where they keep the damn book.”

Father Daar

It’s fun to read a time-travel romance where one of the central pair has been dragged forward in time instead of backward like in so many books. The characters are unique, and the story stays compelling through to the end.

Time-travel is a crazy concept, but with a wizard in the mix, it works well. I love that each character has different motivations and the time-travelers react to being dumped in the present-day differently. The MacBain warriors fall apart while the MacKeages are held together by the strength of Grey’s will. With Daar’s help, they have managed to find success where Grey will meet Grace (not that they realize the meddling wizard’s goal).

When Grace and Grey meet, it is an amusing case of instant lust/love. Grey does an internal double-take of his reaction before deciding to roll with it. Grace is a rocket scientist and a strong woman who is willing to stand up to Grey’s old-fashioned ways. Her intelligence and gung-ho attitude mesh well with the others. While I wouldn’t say I like all of her choices, I do like her as a character.

The story maintains a good pace throughout that moves events along without being overwhelming. Their primary enemy is the weather, which plays it’s role marvelously in crashing a plane and keeping the community on its toes or in the snowbanks. There is an excellent mix of situations that tug on your heartstrings and make you smile.

I love books that pull you in and won’t let you go until the end. This book hit all the right notes for me.
